Revision of Protocol for Local Government proceedings

A two-day workshop was conducted to review and revise the protocol for LG Proceedings from 23rd to 24th November 2021. This protocol was developed in 2020 to guide the Local Governments and their administrations in effectively conducting Local Government Sessions. The document has been prepared based on the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act 2009, its amendment 2014, and the Local Government Rules and Regulations 2012 (LGRR). 

The Local Government businesses must be conducted within the letter and the spirit of the legislation in force. The essential steps or processes required for the collection of agenda points, conducting meetings, and implementing the decisions of the Local Government sessions are highlighted in the document for easy reference by members and officials. 

The protocol was being piloted for one year in the Local Governments to understand the practical implementation and was accordingly reviewed based on some practical feedback from few Dzongkhags. Accordingly, the revised protocol shall be published for a wider reach to the 3rd Local Governments.
